The world is changing dramatically, and modern technologies—social, mobile, cloud, and Big Data—are revolutionizing how we live, how we learn, how we work, and how we experience the world around us.
While that’s not exactly breaking news, I want to emphasize it here because many executives aren’t grasping how rapidly these changes are happening or how profoundly they’re disrupting traditional business models and processes.
Consumers and business customers are becoming more sophisticated and demanding, and social-mobile technologies are driving more and more of their spending. So business leaders hoping their 20- year-old IT systems can magically handle these modern tools and applications are going to be sorely disappointed.
As that old IT guru William Shakespeare once said, “That way madness lies.”
