Tens of thousands of Oracle customers make a yearly visit to San Francisco for the annual Oracle OpenWorld conference, and millions more around the world have joined online. In 2019, Oracle is holding three additional Oracle OpenWorld events — in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
The first of these two-day events, Oracle OpenWorld Europe, took place in London in January. Oracle CEO Mark Hurd appeared live via satellite to address attendees.
Hurd’s wide-ranging keynote, titled “Accelerating Growth in the Cloud,” highlighted the global competition to develop new technologies and focused on the need for a highly skilled workforce . He also discussed how cloud computing can help businesses adapt to the rapidly evolving global economy.
Cloud is not just a technology. Cloud is a business model. Cloud is a strategy that has macroeconomic benefits that’s just much bigger than just technology.” – Mark Hurd
Hurd reiterated his belief that AI will lead to dramatic changes in business and cited a prediction first made at Oracle OpenWorld 2018 in San Francisco, stating, “60 percent of IT jobs… have not been invented yet.”
