Oracle CEO Mark Hurd’s keynote at Oracle OpenWorld 2018, “Accelerating Growth in the Cloud,” featured a combination of industry predictions, statistics, and background information, as well as discussions with geopolitical experts and Oracle customers.
Hurd first interviewed Ian Bremmer, a leading political scientist and founder of Eurasia Group, to discuss how geopolitical issues are shaping the global economy and driving change across multiple industries. Much of Hurd’s conversation with Bremmer involved China’s expanding role in the global politics and business as it continues to make unprecedented investments in domestic and foreign infrastructure projects, as well as technology.
Hurd later highlighted the value of emerging, cloud-based technologies like AI, blockchain and machine learning and offered several predictions regarding their adoption over the next several years.
Customers are using cloud technology, and now you’re going to see a new era as we integrate AI into basically all of our applications as we move forward.” – Mark Hurd
Hurd then welcomed several Oracle customers to the stage for short interviews. Cummins CIO Sherry Aaholm, Tetration Analytics founder Navindra Yadav, and AT&T Business CEO Thaddeus Arroyo all discussed the ways Oracle has helped their companies innovate and succeed in the face of a constantly shifting competitive landscape.
