Mark Hurd Shares Insights on Talent Investment Strategy at Oracle Global Employee Summit

On July 18, 2018, the Oracle Global Employee Summit, hosted at Oracle’s new campus in Austin, connected Oracle employees from around the world to discuss the company’s strategic vision, technology, and how the company is making a positive difference in our customers’ lives, and in the communities where we work.

Speaking at the event, Oracle CEO Mark Hurd also shared career advice gleaned from his decades of experience in the technology industry. He emphasized the importance of employee growth and development through mentorship: “When you’re looking for a job, you’re also recruiting your boss. Get the best boss you can who’ll share with you or mentor with you.” Hurd also emphasized the importance of investing and developing employees and harnessing their enthusiasm to help Oracle change the world for the better.

That’s our vision for the company, that we start to grow our own talent and not depend on somebody else’s.”

Hurd credited the Oracle Class Of program, which he created in 2013 to recruit recent college graduates to work at Oracle, as an important factor in the company’s ability to attract so many talented and qualified employees. He believes talent investment will continue to be paramount for Oracle, predicting that “the CEO of Oracle at some point in the future will come out of this program.” He emphasized this point in a recent LinkedIn article when he commented, “We hope that people who want to change the world choose to come to Oracle so we can make change happen together.”
