Bloomberg host, Cory Johnson, sits down with CEO of Oracle, Mark Hurd, for an in-depth interview at the company’s headquarters in Redwood City, CA as part of the Bloomberg Best series. In his interview, Hurd discusses Oracle’s transition to the cloud, rising competition, his relationship with customers and the company’s evolving sales team.
The transition to the cloud is a shift taking place industry-wide, according to Hurd:
It is a big shift I think over the course of the next five to ten years. You’re going to see perhaps even a majority of IT shift to the cloud. So for us, we look at this as an opportunity. You know, the fact that we have such a strong on-premise base, it’s going to be important to make those two worlds work together. And so for us, building a whole new cloud stack of capability, from applications through platforms through infrastructure, that can now work with that on-premise base – huge opportunity for us.
Cory Johnson covers technology, innovation and the future of business for Bloomberg. He is also the anchor for Bloomberg Markets on Bloomberg Radio.
